Pale Stars Bio:

The five years between the release of Pale Stars self-titled debut CD - which Dave Sheinen of the Washington Post called "a brilliant record that satisfies on every level" - and their sophomore release 'How Much Is Enough?' saw a dramatic departure for the band in both line-up and musical direction.

Singer/songwriter Brandt Huseman (Greenberry Woods, Splitsville) and avant-garde guitarist/producer Nat Bradley have created an orchestral soundscape that is a giant leap forward from the band's previous Americana/Pop sound, and an amalgam of their individual strengths. This new sound, and the stripped down lineup, developed organically out of the band's approach to recording.

After Pale Stars earned the top spot for the Coors Light "Land Your Band" competition in 2006, and became regional favorites in the Baltimore/D.C. area on the strength of radio support from local stations, the band took an extended hiatus at the beginning of 2008. The following year Huseman began sending vocal and acoustic guitar demos to Bradley, who crafted instrumentation around the demos and developed them into final mixes. The initial results were so promising the two quickly realized this would be the ideal method for recording. Most of the CD was recorded separately, with the duo spending very little time together in the studio. However, the resulting 9-song collection of densely packed indie-pop gems sounds like a team working harmoniously - Bradley's robust, and sometimes quirky, aural textures elevate Huseman's simple songcraft into something that is greater than the sum of two parts.

Pale Stars: Nat Bradley and Brandt Huseman

"Q&A with Brandt Huseman"

""Brandt Huseman now plays six strings, sings and write songs with pop melodies, a rock spirit . . . It's the Pale Stars, and it's good.""
